c.1890 One of three designs now in the Watts? archives commissioned from Sir John Ninian Comper by M. Perkins & Sons, the well-known late 19th century weaver of church furnishings, Comper Lily is a majestic wool silk of twisting foliage and flowers, amongst which fly birds and mythical griffins, who grasp livestock in their talons. This medieval design is glorious woven in gold and black on a raspberry ground. Woven to order. Minimum order 10 metres
